  5. Welcome to PVW Screen Painter.
  6.  
  7. This is  a simple  utility, written  completely in  Clipper 5.1   and
  8. ProVision:Windows.  We studied the "header" files supplied with PVW and created
  9. the  natural  .dbfs  to  achieve  a  "data-driven" environment that would store
  10. window definitions, allow you to see the windows as you created them, and write
  11. out the code (command style) that would produce those windows.

  13. Designing the screens for a system is usually a time consuming part of
  14. the developement phase of most projects. A friend of mine was teasing me by
  15. pointing out Visual Basic's strong screen design orientation, and in fact
  16. he had a good point. So...., since Clipper is one heck of a developement
  17. language, and PVW supplies fantastic user-interface tools, we figured --
  18. why not give it a shot ?!

  20. The menus are, for the most part, self explainatory. You create a project and
  21. associate your windows with that project. This provides a natural grouping of
  22. windows.

  24. Under the "Window" menu you'll see:
  25.  
  26.                   Create      ---> create new windows for this project
  27.                   Edit        ---> edit the windows of the present project
  28.                   Show        ---> display windows for the present project
  29.                                    (available during most functions anyway)
  30.                   Duplicate   ---> copy a window to save time
  31.                   Write       ---> generate window code for your projects
  32.                   View        ---> view a text file (not a window)

  34. The rest is pretty straight-forward.

  36. Nelson and I are  just about finished with  an actual PAINTING version  of this
  37. program ala Visual Basic, where you create and resize objects dynamically on  a
  38. "form".  This is written with the additional help of FUNCkyII.

  41. anyone interested in tesing the final beta  of Rel 1.5, which we will offer  as
  42. shareware in about a month.
